Engineering Games

Our Unreal Engine projects have been leading the pack of real-time entertainment for years, and we're always looking for ways to improve our tools and technology. As part of our team, you'll be working on adapting Fortnite's systems to the new framework using Scene Graph and Verse - a rare opportunity to shape Epic's game engine while contributing to one of the world's most acclaimed games.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Gameplay AI Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Driving initiatives with minimal oversight to build strong, performant foundations that will last for years
  • Analyzing current Fortnite LLM systems and developing a strategic plan to unify them into NPC systems
  • Tackling complex low-level problems to optimize or deliver high-performance systems
  • Ensuring high-quality user experiences across all supported platforms, with attention to usability for developers new to UEFN

What We're Looking For

To join our team, you'll need:

  • Professional game development experience, including shipping AAA titles featuring gameplay AI
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, self-motivated, and able to work independently
  • Strong understanding of gameplay AI systems such as Behaviour Trees, Finite State Machines, and Pathfinding
  • Strong C++ skills for building efficient gameplay AI systems and tools
  • Empathy for creators new to programming and game development, with a drive to make AI easy to use without losing flexibility or power
