Growing a business from mobile apps to space software is no easy feat, but N7 Mobile has successfully made the transition. This Polish software company began by developing smartphone apps but soon set its sights on the space sector. With their team's prior experience in projects like Poland's first satellite PW-Sat 1 and ESA's educational initiatives, they were well-equipped to take on the challenge.

Adapting to Space Standards

Developing software for space presented unique hurdles, including compliance with European Coordination for Space Standardisation (ECSS) guidelines. N7 Mobile had to invest in a simulator to test their software extensively before integration, ensuring verification, traceability, and high code quality. By mastering ESA's formal processes for software design and testing, they were able to streamline development for real-time systems.

Expanding into the Space Industry

N7 Space's success with ASPIICS proved transformative. With a team of 25 specialized engineers and over 30 projects completed, they have expanded their reach globally through partnerships like their joint venture with SPACEBEL group in Belgium. Their credibility established through ESA partnerships has allowed them to attract customers in diverse sectors worldwide.

Proba-3: A Mission of Innovation

Proba-3, a dual-spacecraft mission aimed at studying the Sun's corona, relies on software designed entirely by N7 Mobile. This significant step for the company and the industry showcases the innovative potential of new entrants in the space sector. By developing software capable of processing telecommands, managing mission data, and maintaining the satellites' precise alignment for extended solar observations, N7 Space demonstrated their expertise in adapting to space standards.

Looking Ahead

As Proba-3 embarks on its mission, N7 Space is already preparing for new challenges. With a focus on continued collaborations with ESA on missions like Hera and Ariel, as well as supporting the European Southern Observatory's Extremely Large Telescope control systems, they are poised for further growth and innovation in the space industry.
