The United States Postal Service (USPS) is taking a significant leap forward in enhancing user experience with the beta testing of its innovative "Informed Delivery" app, designed to transform the way we interact with our mail and packages.

At its core, Informed Delivery is an intuitive service that sends users daily email updates showcasing what's arriving at their doorstep. This feature-rich offering includes both letters and packages, allowing individuals to stay informed about incoming mail without missing a beat. However, as Gmail automatically filters these notifications into the "Updates" tab, it can be easy to overlook them amidst the digital noise.

To address this challenge, the USPS is now gearing up to launch a mobile app for Informed Delivery, with a beta program currently underway on Android. Users can either log in with an existing account or create a new one, and then utilize features such as scanning tracking numbers and barcodes to track their packages within the app.

The Play Store listing provides a compelling snapshot of what this app has to offer:

"Start your day with a sneak peek at your upcoming mail and packages using the Informed Delivery Mobile application. This free app lets you see grayscale images of your mail before it arrives, receive USPS tracking updates, and interact with digital content associated with your mail."

With these features, users can:

  • Create an account or sign in with an existing one
  • Receive daily digest notifications to preview their upcoming mail and packages
  • View grayscale images of their mail before arrival (limited to the exterior, address side only for letter-sized mail)
  • Interact with digital content linked to their mail (such as special offers and related links)
  • Scan eligible tracking numbers or label barcodes to track the status of their inbound or outbound USPS packages
  • Receive delivery status updates directly on their smartphone

To gain access to this innovative app, users must first join a private Google Group before accessing it via the Play Store. Meanwhile, the same app is also being tested on iOS, with iPhone users able to sign up for access via Test Flight – although the beta program has since filled.
