Analytics in Motion
Our Data & Analytics teams build powerful stories and visuals that inform the games we make, the technology we develop, and business decisions that drive Epic's success. As a Senior Data Scientist, you'll be part of our Product Analytics team focused on Fortnite, applying mixed methods to own the end-to-end life cycle of creating data assets, reports, insights, and predictive models.
What You'll Do
Join us in shaping the direction of efforts across Epic's portfolio of products and ecosystems, with a particular focus on cosmetics and monetization. Your insights will impact the way players access content they'll love while building a sustainable business model for Fortnite. You'll partner with product, design, game development, art, and engineering counterparts to identify opportunities to give players maximum value from our cosmetics.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with cross-functional teams to develop metrics and insights that shape the execution of our cosmetic strategy
- Work directly with analytics, engineering, and data platform teams to scope and capture the required data for unlocking insights
- Transform raw data into actionable reports, models, and production metrics
- Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of metrics and align them with long-term ecosystem growth
- Collaborate with design, product, and analytics teams to design, test, and execute experiments to improve products
What We're Looking For
- At least 5 years of industry or relevant experience in live service video games
- Strong product intuition and demonstrated background in influencing products through data-driven insights
- Experience working with development teams to instrument telemetry
- Experience writing efficient SQL code over large datasets, with a plus if familiar with distributed computing using Spark
- Data visualization skills (Tableau or similar)
- Comfort with supporting operational processes, including code version control and orchestration
- Understanding of experimental design and A/B testing techniques
- Ability to learn and apply new technologies and modeling/statistical methods to deliver results
