TrueNAS "Goldeye" Beta is now available, packed with dozens of new features and hundreds of fixes to further refine this exceptional app user experience. As the October 2026 release date approaches, eager testers are encouraged to put it through its paces. Dive into the release notes on the TrueNAS Docs site for a comprehensive overview, or explore some of the highlights below.

Linux Kernel and NVIDIA Blackwell Support

The Linux Long-Term Support (LTS) Kernel has been updated from 6.12.15 to 6.12.33, enhancing hardware compatibility and addressing edge-case performance issues. This update also brings more reliable and stable app user experiences. Additionally, TrueNAS 25.10 now utilizes the NVIDIA Open Source GPU Kernel modules with the 570.172.08 driver, adding support for the latest NVIDIA GPUs, including the RTX 50-series and RTX PRO Blackwell cards.

ZFS 2.3.3: New Tools and Performance Boosts

The ZFS File Rewrite extension to OpenZFS 2.3.3 enables datasets and files to be rewritten to your ZFS pool without interrupting standard file access. This powerful tool allows for rebalancing data after vdev addition or RAIDZ expansion, with no impact on file modification time, ownership, or permissions. Goldeye exposes this capability from the TrueNAS CLI for advanced users.

Faster Caching and DirectIO

Adaptive Replacement Cache (ARC) improvements bring greater parallelization of operations and eviction speeds for data that's no longer valuable to be cached in RAM. High-performance systems with multiple cores and fast NVMe devices will benefit most from these enhancements. The DirectIO feature allows file protocols to bypass ARC if caching doesn't improve performance, optimizing memory bandwidth and performance for specific high-performance computing (HPC) use-cases.

TrueNAS Versioned API: Enhanced Integration Options

The new, fully-versioned JSON-RPC 2.0 over WebSocket implementation in TrueNAS 25.10 offers predictable compatibility for software integrations across TrueNAS upgrades. This feature replaces the previous REST API and will be fully removed in a future release. The updated API allows for more responsive integration with the TrueNAS Web UI, displaying accurate information with lower overhead.

New TrueNAS Update Advisor and Profiles

TrueNAS 25.10 overhauls the update process by introducing a new "User Profile" selection directly in the Web UI. Choose your preferred release timing (General, Early Adopter, or Developer) and receive alerts only for updates matching that profile. A summary of the Release Notes will also be provided, highlighting key changes with a link to the full documentation.

Virtualization: Cleaner and More Efficient

TrueNAS 25.10-BETA includes separate tabs for its two Virtualization solutions: experimental Linux Containers (LXC) under the Instances tab and full KVM-powered Virtual Machines (VM) under the Virtualization tab. Both tabs have been updated to be easier to navigate, with access to a TrueNAS-managed catalog of easy-to-deploy VM and LXC template images.

NVMe over Fabric: Taking Performance to the Next Level

The full release of TrueNAS 25.10 will include our Petabyte Hypervisor, making Virtualization available on TrueNAS Enterprise appliances with High Availability (HA). This platform offers a solution for workloads that benefit from being close to high-performance storage.
