When it comes to swift app development, gaining a deeper understanding of user behavior is crucial for creating engaging and effective mobile experiences. One powerful tool in your arsenal is the heatmap comparison feature, which allows you to visualize and analyze two heatmaps side by side. In this article, we'll dive into the ins and outs of this feature and explore how it can help you unlock new insights about your app's performance.
What Can You Do with Heatmap Comparison?
The heatmap comparison feature is designed to help you gain a better understanding of user behavior by comparing two heatmaps simultaneously. With this feature, you can:
- Compare the performance of different screens or versions of the same screen
- Analyze how different user segments interact with your app over time
- Identify which features or elements are driving engagement and conversion
- Monitor the effectiveness of test campaigns and adjust your strategy accordingly
How to Use Heatmap Comparison?
To get started, simply follow these steps:
- Choose the "View heatmap" option from the list of popular screens.
- Select the "Compare" button from the top-right corner.
- Choose another screen to start comparing from the list of popular screens.
As you select a screen, you'll be able to view both heatmaps simultaneously. The left pane will display one heatmap, while the right pane will display the other. The time frame filter is set to the last three days by default, but you can adjust this setting as needed.
Compare Mode Features
When working in compare mode, you'll have access to a range of features that allow you to drill down and gain even more insights:
- Apply filters to both heatmaps simultaneously
- Compare different user segments and device types (mobile, tablet)
- Adjust tap map types and opacity to suit your needs
As you work with the heatmap comparison feature, you'll be able to view the total screen views and number of taps for each heatmap in the bottom panel. You can also adjust the heat opacity to better visualize the data.
Exiting Compare Mode
To exit compare mode, simply select the close icon on any tap map or move to a different vertical (such as Recordings or Dashboard) and apply a new filter or segment. Note that you won't be able to view recordings in compare mode for a tap map, and the feature only works within a project – heatmaps from different projects can't be compared.
Limitations of Compare Mode
While the heatmap comparison feature is incredibly powerful, there are some limitations to keep in mind:
- You won't be able to save a segment while in compare mode
- The feature doesn't work across different projects
By understanding these limitations and using the heatmap comparison feature effectively, you'll be able to unlock new insights about your app's performance and make data-driven decisions to drive growth and engagement.
