Immich has just rolled out its latest update, packed with exciting features and enhancements that elevate your overall user experience. In this article, we'll dive into the key highlights of v1.135.0, showcasing what's new and improved in this release.

iOS Home Screen Widgets

One of the most significant updates is the introduction of home screen widgets on iOS! With Immich, you can now add widgets to your home screen that display a random image from your library, an album, or memory lane. These widgets come in four sizes (S, M, L, and XL on iPad) and update every 20 minutes, pulling directly from your Immich server.

Granular API Key Access Control

Immich now offers granular API key access control creation, giving you better control over what third-party libraries or software can do with your Immich instance. This feature allows you to select additional permissions when creating an API key, ensuring a more secure and customizable experience.

Google Cast Support on the Mobile App

The mobile app now supports casting photos and videos to Google Cast-enabled devices! This feature is a follow-up to the web-based casting support and allows for seamless photo and video sharing. Note that your server must be accessible through the server URL from the cast receiver, and only assets uploaded to the server can be cast.

Opt-in Google Cast on the Web

To address privacy concerns, Immich has introduced opt-in Google Cast on the web. This feature removes the requirement for a network request to Google each time Immich is loaded. Users who have previously used Google Cast on the web will need to re-enable it after updating.

New User Onboarding

New users can now enjoy an improved onboarding flow on the web, allowing them to select their language, theme, and personal privacy settings (including Google Cast opt-in). This streamlined process provides a better user experience for discovering and enabling various features and preferences.

Album Description on the Mobile App

The album's description is now displayed and editable in the mobile app, along with some stylish updates to its header. This enhancement makes it easier to manage your albums and access their descriptions on-the-go.

Vchord 0.4.2 Support

Immich has updated its server to support the latest version of VectorChord (Vchord 0.4.2), bringing significant improvements to the vector database extension. You can opt-in to this new version or stick with your current version (0.3.0) – it's up to you!

Keyboard Navigation in Timeline

The timeline now supports shortcuts for easier navigation between days, months, and years. Use d or shift + d to jump to an earlier or later day, m or shift + m for the earlier or later month, y or shift + y for the earlier or later year, or g to go directly to a specific date.

Multiple Admins Support

You can now grant other users administrative permission by navigating to the user settings. This feature allows you to manage your team's access and permissions with ease.

Dev Containers and Contributing

There's an alternative way to set up a development environment using dev containers, making contributing easier than ever! Simply click on this button to launch an entire development environment in GitHub's Codespaces in the cloud.
