The rapid pace of technological advancements has revolutionized the way we learn, making mobile-based Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications an essential tool for enhancing English reading skills. In this experimental study, we investigated the effectiveness of using AI-powered mobile apps to improve the reading abilities of primary school students in Jordan.
To achieve this goal, we employed a quasi-experimental design, dividing 60 fifth-grade students into two groups: an experimental group of 30 students who received instruction through a mobile AI application and a control group of 30 students taught using traditional methods. The results revealed statistically significant differences between the two groups, favoring the experimental group.
The study instrument consisted of an observation checklist, which showed that the use of AI applications in teaching reading skills significantly enhanced student performance. Our findings suggest that AI-powered mobile apps can be a valuable tool for teachers and students alike, providing personalized learning experiences, adaptive exercises, and real-time feedback.
AI-Powered Learning: A Game-Changer in Education
In today's digital era, technology has become an integral part of daily life, transforming the way we learn. The COVID-19 pandemic and global lockdowns have further accelerated this change, making mobile devices and digital platforms essential for education. As a result, teachers must adapt to new e-learning practices and develop skills to create lessons that work well with these technologies.
The Role of AI in Enhancing English Reading Skills
Artificial Intelligence has emerged as a key player in modern education, helping to improve student performance, raise the quality of education, and support the development of essential skills for future careers. In teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL), AI-powered solutions can provide personalized learning experiences, adaptive exercises, and real-time feedback.
Breaking Down Barriers with Mobile Apps
Mobile applications have revolutionized the way we learn, offering flexible and effective ways to study. By leveraging AI technology, these apps can correct errors, assess text comprehension, link letters to sounds, generate progress reports, rephrase content, and analyze texts. These functionalities provide teachers with valuable insights into student learning, enabling them to tailor their instruction to meet individual needs.
Conclusion
Our study demonstrates the effectiveness of using mobile-based AI applications in enhancing English reading skills among primary school students. The results highlight the importance of teacher training and adopting new strategies aligned with modern technological advancements to meet students' needs and interests. As technology continues to shape education, we must prioritize the integration of AI-powered learning tools into our curricula, empowering teachers and students to succeed in an increasingly digital world.
